Post Surgical Drain Removals

A drain inserted at the time of surgery provides a route through which air and body fluids can be evacuated from the operative site.  It isn’t uncommon for your surgeon to use drains during surgery, our drain removal services help put patients at ease knowing our team has you covered. Our Medical Assistant or Nurse will use our expert drain removal techniques to remove your drains safely and effortlessly. This service is especially a favorite for patients whose surgeon may be far away or have traveled outside of Houston for surgery.

We serve both local and traveling patients.

WHY YOU NEED A DRAIN?

Body tissues that are cut during your operation will leak fluid after surgery. If this fluid is not allowed to drain, it can collect under the skin and cause problems (excessive swelling, seromas, and eventually fibrosis).

The main reasons for having a drain are to:

  • Allow the wound to heal
  • Reduce pain, as collecting the fluid and a closed cavity can cause discomfort
  • Prevent a collection of fluid, which is a potential site for infection
  • Minimize any bruising to the area
