WHY YOU NEED A DRAIN?
Body tissues that are cut during your operation will leak fluid after surgery. If this fluid is not allowed to drain, it can collect under the skin and cause problems (excessive swelling, seromas, and eventually fibrosis).
The main reasons for having a drain are to:

- Reduce pain, as collecting the fluid and a closed cavity can cause discomfort
